Can you double coat fake tan?
The term buildable in the tanning world means, you can add another coat of a self tanner after your initial shower to make the tan darker. This is most common with self tan lotion is gradual, and you keep adding layers everyday until you achieve your desired tan color.
"With all tans, apply two coats to the body and one to the face. Starting at the ankles and working your way up means that tan will be dry enough to apply a second coat after a couple of minutes; just start again at the ankles for the second layer," Jules told us.
There are different ways to go about layering, but no matter what, you want to make sure the previous tanner has dried before applying your next layer. You can put on multiple layers in one day or, my personal favorite, apply over 2 days. I like to apply, wait 8 hours, rinse (no soap), then apply another layer.
Apply one coat of self tan at a time, let that develop and then if you want to go darker re-apply in 12-24 hours. Don't re-apply too soon as this can affect the final result and the tan is more likely to flake off.
While it can be tempting to just layer one tan over another, it really IS important to remove any lingering colour first. This will ensure a beautiful even colour and help prevent streaks, patches and an uneven fade.
Another way to make your tan darker is to apply two layers of self-tan or to top your tan up the day after the initial application. However, this is probably best left to the more confident tanners among us.
For a quicker way to darken your sunless tan you can use Instant Bronzing Gel. This product creates a short-term tan on the skin in seconds and can  be washed off in the shower at the end of the day.
Fake tan will not stop you getting a natural tan, it will simply act as an extra layer between your skin and the sun, and so the effects of the sun's rays will not be as strong.
Applying a moisturiser may interfere with the flawless result you so perfectly applied. We want your tan to be 20/10 and unfortunately if moisturiser is applied it can leave blotches, marks and strip the tan in certain spots on the skin.
As for when you can repeat this process, typically you can use self-tanner every day or every other day until you reach your desired level of color and then once or twice a week to help maintain the results.
Can you apply fake tan again the day after?
If you are using a gradual tanning lotion, you'll want to reapply on a daily basis until you reach your desired skin color. Afterwards, you can reapply again after three to five days, or you can switch to another self-tanner to maintain your bronze color - it's totally up to you!
As colour will continue to develop for approximately 8 hours, the longer the tan is left on the skin prior to bathing, the darker the result will be.
Coconut Oil and Vitamin C
Simply take some coconut oil (mixing other natural oils is okay as well), apply it on the uneven tanned areas, and leave it on overnight. When you wake up in the morning, simply wash your skin. Repeat the process each day, and your tan lines should be barely visible after a while.
Poor exfoliation Exfoliating poorly before a tanning treatment is one of the key reasons why a fake tan can look uneven or streaky. Getting rid of dead skin cells by exfoliating regularly will create a smooth base for the tanner to glide onto, resulting in a balanced tan.

Forgetting to moisturise daily is one of the key reasons that your sunless tan has faded faster than you'd hoped. When your skin becomes too dry, the skin cells on the surface begin to flake off, taking your golden colour that sits within them away!
Although you can get a spray tan as often as you want, we recommend coming in every 9-12 days to give you time to enjoy your current tan, exfoliate, and prepare your skin for your next appointment. Maintaining a proper spray tan care routine will help you keep an even spray tan.
If a dark tan is what you're looking for, we do recommend waiting a few hours before rinsing it off so that the product has longer to develop with your skin. Note: after rinsing, your skin will continue to deepen over the next 24 hours, so if your skin does not seem that dark, give it time!

As soon as you are done with your spray tan, you have a beautiful glow. As the day or night goes on, your spray tan gets darker and darker. The reason it gets darker, is because the DHA is reacting to the skins amino acids.
What not to do after fake tanning?
Avoid moisture
After you apply self-tanner, avoid moisture for at least a few hours. That includes bath, shower, swimming, sweating, or saunas. Additionally, don't apply moisturizer right after. Take a shower within the 24 hours following self-tanner application and gently pat dry to avoid streaks.
Don't fret! Your colour will continue to develop and darken for a few hours (and a spray tan takes up to 24 hours to develop fully).

You might have to test it out a few times, to work out what suits you the best! For best results, we recommend letting your tan develop 6-8 hours.
It's not necessary to apply self tanner every single day. Your tan will stay perfectly in tact after two days, but applying every other day is perfect to keep it up!
We generally recommend sticking to the one self tanning product per application. If you do not find the colour to be as dark as you would expect, you can always apply a second coat 30-60 minutes after initial application or the following day if the developed colour is not to your desired colour depth.

Excess product often settles onto dry areas, like the elbows, knees, ankles, hands, and feet, causing an uneven, patchy tan.

Not only does it leave skin feeling silky smooth, but it can prolong your tan for up to 3 days longer with even fade.
We recommend waiting at least 4-8 hours after your spray tan before you shower for the first time, but don't wait more than 24 hours.
