Is it worth getting a Switch in 2022?

With the sheer quality of Nintendo's first-party catalogue and wide indie support, the Nintendo Switch is certainly worth buying in 2022. Would we like to play these beautiful games like Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in 4K? For sure.

With Breath of the Wild taking up around 13.4GB of storage space on the Switch, you'd theoretically be able to store a whopping 74 copies of the open-world game on this 1TB memory card alone.

An average Nintendo Switch game is 10–13GBish so a 400GB card could hold about 34–40 games max.

We'd recommend a 128GB SD card for most users; this will give you enough room for about 15-18 Nintendo Switch games on your console, but it's worth noting that smaller indie titles will take up far less space.

Your console may get hot when charging or during use (including when in Sleep Mode). This is not a defect.

Do not expose the Nintendo Switch console, game cards or any of the Nintendo Switch components or accessories to extreme heat or cold. The liquid crystal displays (LCD) may become slower or may not work when the temperature is low. The LCD will deteriorate at a high temperature.

Leaving the console on the dock or plugged in directly with the AC adapter overnight, or past the point where the battery is fully charged will not cause harm to the battery.

The Switch runs off of a customised Nvidia Tegra X1 chipset, while the PS4 contains an AMD Jaguar CPU and a 1.84 TFlops AMD Radeon GPU. What that translates to is that even though it was released several years before the Nintendo Switch, the PS4 outperforms it when it comes to overall computing power.

It shines thanks to its library of standout games that should not be missed, and it does not seem like the steady release of new titles is slowing down soon. Even in 2022, the Nintendo Switch remains a worthwhile purchase.
