How long does St. Moriz dark tan take?
Ideal for those who like a quick fix tan, our Fast Tanning Mousse allows you to control your shade. Achieve a light, sun-kissed glow in just 1 hour or wait 2 hours for a medium tan and 3 hours for a dark tan.
But once smoothed over the skin (using a good quality tanning mitt of course) you can see where you've applied the mousse to ensure an even, no-streak finish. The bottle says to leave it on for 4-6 hours, I leave it on overnight and wake up with a lovely golden glow….
You apply the product, and then wait anywhere from 1-3 hours before washing the product off (just depending on how dark you'd like your tan). After you wash it off, your tan won't have developed yet. It will then take the normal 6-8 hours to develop.
I do recommend leaving this on for 8 hours, like any other spray tan or self tanner, before rinsing off.
St Moriz Fake Tan Review – Gradual Tanning Mousse
I use this clear tanning lotion before I go to bed as it takes 7 – 10 hours to fully develop into a gorgeous natural looking tan. I love this gradual tan as you can wear it overnight without any residue coming off on your clothes or bedding.
CAN I USE ST. MORIZ ON MY FACE? Yes - check out our New Tan-boosting serum! Simply mix 3-6 drops with your favorite moisturizer and apply on your face and neck.
the longer you keep the tan on, the darker it will get. however, some skin types may experience discoloration (looking a bit orange or yellow) if left on too long past around 8 hours. you may also get a streaky tan as you're more likely to rub or wash off some sections.
The product will begin to develop after 1 hour, and will continue to develop up to 8 hours. After this time, simply wash away the guide colour, avoiding any soaps, shower gels or shampoo. During the developing time avoid contact with water, perspiring or applying other products.
This fake tan develops after just one hour for a light tan, two hours for a medium tan and three hours for a deep bronzed tan. If that wasn't enough, the instant guide colour gives an instant glow whilst highlighting any areas you may have missed, for a streak-free, flawless finish!
Two sessions a week should be enough to deepen your tan regardless of your skin type. However, if your tan starts to fade before the next visit, it is generally recommended to wait at least 48 hours in between each session. This allows the tan to build up consistently and the cells to develop safely.
Is it best to fake tan before bed?
Immediately after tanning, let it dry completely before putting on some loose, dark clothing to prevent your tan transferring. Either apply your self tan in the morning for daytime development, or apply before you go to bed to wake up looking bronzed and beautiful.
Once applied you can wash skin after just 1 hour, but for a deeper, longer lasting tan leave on for up to 8 hours. As it really is personal choice, you may need to test it out a few times before knowing what suits you best. And after washing off, you can always re-apply if you're after a deeper tan.

If you showered after just a few hours, you might notice your skin is not as tanned as you'd expected. Don't fret! Your colour will continue to develop and darken for a few hours (and a spray tan takes up to 24 hours to develop fully). That brown water disappearing down the drain?
Transfer and water-resistant, you can feel confident knowing your bronzed look will keep up with you all day (or night). Once you're done wearing your glow, simply shower it away with warm, soapy water. It's your go to quick fix!
Keep your skin moisturized in the days before applying sunless tanner. Apply a hydrating moisturizer and focus on areas that tend to be drier than the rest of your body, such as your elbows, knees, and ankles. But, avoid moisturizing your skin immediately before applying sunless tanner.
If your tan is the exact shade you love and you want to keep the gorgeous glow, you typically only have to apply self-tanner about once a week. This applies to tanning solution you put on your body, which tends to be exposed to fewer products and washing than your face.
Putting clothes on, sitting or laying down immediately is a big no-no initially. You may rub off a significant amount of product that is only just beginning to “set”. Instead, embrace your birthday suit and implement a “clothes optional” policy for an hour or two.
Make sure to get your tan at least 1-2 days before your trip. Spray tans always look best at least a day after the initial appointment. Maintain your tan with self-tanners to not only make it last longer but help it fade more evenly. Don't skimp on SPF even if you have a spray tan.
